Berhampur: A police sub-inspector in Odisha’s Ganjam district was held today by the vigilance sleuths after he was caught red-handed accepting bribe.
The accused sub-inspector has been identified as Sidharta Kumar Gouda of Jagannath Prasad Police Station.
Gouda was caught red-handed by the vigilance officers while he was accepting the bribe of Rs 3,000 from complainant P. Raja Senapati.
The sub-inspector allegedly demanded the bribe to settle dispute of the complainant with another person.
The bribe money has been recovered and seized from the possession of Gouda, said Santanu Kumar Padhi, Vigilance Additional Superintendent of Police at Berhampur Division.
A case has been registered in this connection, he added.
