Berhampur: A corona awareness short film from Odisha’s Ganjam district has received accolades at the ‘COVID-19 International Tribal Film Festival 2020’.
The short film ‘Corona tu pherija’, which translates in Odia – Corona, go back – has won award for the ‘Best Story’ and ‘Best Regional Film’ categories at the mega international film festival.
The Odia film, made by a team led by Kukudakhandi Block Development Officer (BDO) Gadadhar Patra and directed by award winning fine artist Stitadhi Rath, was rated one of the top 50 films at the festival because of its appealing storyline.
The 13-minute long film is a sincere attempt to create awareness among the people on COVID-19 and its various preventive measures, so that we can support the Odisha Government’s war against the deadly virus, said Stitadhi Rath.
The short film ‘Corona tu pherija’ has brought laurels to Ganjam district as well as to the State.
The COVID-19 International Tribal Film Festival 2020 was organised by Orifarming India, JBS Entertainment and Education Corporation on ‘Resurrection and sustainability of tribal culture and rituals amid COVID-19’. More than 450 short films from over 36 countries were screened at the film festival in virtual mode.
Earlier, Stitadhi Rath’s short film ‘Martyapura Re Jamaraj’ (‘Yamaraj on earth’) had won the Special Jury Award at the COVID-19 International Film Festival 2020 in June.
