Bhubaneswar: In view of the increase in the number of vehicle sales during the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja, the State Transport Authority has announced that all the RTOs will remain open from 3 PM to 5 PM on 24th and 26th October to facilitate registration of vehicles during Dushara Holidays.
The RTOs will also approve registration of NTV vehicles done through dealer point on all four days on work from home basis.
In an Office Order, the STA said “It is expected that large number of sale of motor vehicles would occur during this auspicious Durga Puja. As per Rule 42 of the CMV Rule 1989, no dealer can deliver any motor vehicle without its registration and without affixing HSRP number plate. Since, there are four Government holidays from 23.10.2020 to 26.10.2020, on the occasion of Durga Puja, it might be a difficult situation for the dealer to gel their newly sold vehicle registered at RTO offices. However, in view of above, it is hereby ordered that the Registration section of all RTOs shall remain open on two days i.e, 24.10.2020 and 26.10.2020 from 3 PM to 5 PM to receive the registration documents from dealer and allotment of registration number. ”
The RTOs shall make necessary roster arrangements accordingly and also shall intimate to all the dealers under their jurisdiction regarding such facility. In no case the dealers should deliver any new motor vehicle violating Rule 42 of CMV Rule 1989, without registration and without affixing HSRP number plate. All RTOs are instructed to check the dealer premises and ensure that, no vehicle is delivered without registration and affixing HSRP. In case the dealer is delivering the vehicles without registration ,without affixing HSRP, then steps shall be taken for cancellation or suspension of the trade license of the dealer.
