Bhubaneswar: An Assistant Section Officer has brought serious allegations against Lalit Kumar, son of Odisha Governor Raghubar Das.
Baikuntha Pradhan, Asst. Section Officer, Parliamentary Affairs Department, who is currently working on deployment basis at Governor’s Household, alleged that Lalit Kumar and five other persons had manhandled and bodily injured him at Raj Bhavan, Puri.
The incident occurred on the night of July 7.
The Assistant Section Officer informed about the incident to the Principal Secretary of Governor through a letter.
Pradhan was in-charge of Raj Bhavan to supervise the preparedness for visit and stay of President Droupadi Murmu in Puri on July 7 and 8.
On night of July 7 at around 11.45 PM, when Pradhan was sitting in the office room, Aakash Singh, Personal Cook of Governor, came to the office and told him that Lalit Kumar wanted to meet him.
The Asst. Section Officer came with the cook to meet Lalit Kumar.
Lalit Kumar started scolding the Assistant Section Officer in unparliamentarily language and used highly objectionable slangs. When he objected to such humiliation, they started slapping him.
Feeling helpless, Pradhan started running out of the room and hid himself behind the Annex building. However, the two PSOs of Lalit Kumar could find out his location and dragged him to the room through the lift. Security Personnel and others present there have witnessed this incident, stated Pradhan.
They again started slapping, blowing punches on his face, kicking every part of his body and twisted his left ankle, said Pradhan.
The Assistan Section Officer has also lodged a police complaint seeking strong action against the culprits.
