Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police DG Abhay has said that the government is determined to extend the development benefits to the Swabhiman Anchal and the forces will support it by extending their presence in the area.
Speaking at the Biju Patnaik International Airport after returning from the Swabhiman area, DGP Abhay said in the last one year the presence of the security forces have been beefed up in the LWE area. While three new Company Operating Bases have been set up in the last one year taking the total to seven in the state, the development initiatives have been speeded. He said, new telephone towers are being erected and roads being lid for better communication in the area. People in the cut off areas want development and are fully cooperating the forces in restoring peace.
He once again requested the Maoists to shun violence and join the mainstream.
Earlier today DGP Abhay along with R K Sharma, Director Intelligence, Amitabh Thakur, IG Operations and IG BSF visited the Gurasetu area Company Operating Base in the Swabhiman area of Malkanagiri district to review the security arrangements. The LWE affected Swabhiman anchal particularly the Gursetu and Panasput area are in focus after the Odisha Police and BSF jointly established a Company Operation Base (COB) recently. DGP Abhay and the visiting team interacted with the local people and distributed cloths and books for the children. They also promised for the overall development of the area.
