New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that the Center will complete the strategic disinvestment in Air India and BPCL by March 2020. With this, the center is hoping to achieve its One Lakh Crore disinvestment target for the financial year 2019-20.
She said that the road shows organized by the government in various countries have attracted good response from investors for Air India.
“We are moving on both with the expectation that we can complete them this year. The ground realities will play out,” Sitharaman told the Times of India.
At present, Air India is having a massive debt to the tune of Rs. 58,000 crore. It posted a net loss of Rs 4600 Crore in the financial year 2018-19.
Bharat Petroleum has a market capitalization of about Rs. 1.02 lakh crore. The government expects to get around 65 thousand crore rupees from its disinvestment.
