Bhubaneswar: Saroj Kumar Panda, a former junior engineer at Gunupur block and currently JE, Rayagada Block, was sentenced to three years rigorous imprisonment in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
Panda, who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case for possession of DA, was convicted by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and fine of Rs.2,00,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 months more for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) PC Act, 1988.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for dismissal of Panda from service following his conviction.
