New Delhi: The 19-year-old Dalit woman, who was raped in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district, passed away at AIIMS, Delhi on Tuesday morning. The Dalit woman was allegedly gang-raped by four men in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh on September 14.
She was taken to a hospital in Aligarh the next day in a critical condition, and moved to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi for better medical facilities.
She was shifted to AIIMS on Monday after her condition showed no signs of improvement. The woman was in critical condition, and on ventilator.
According to an earlier statement issued by Hathras Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikrant Vir, the woman had gone to the fields along with her mother on the day of the incident. When family members searched for her after he went missing, they found her in critical condition.
She was not only gang-raped but strangulated by the perpetrators. There was a serious cut on her tongue, indicating that there was an attempt to strangulate her, the SP added.
