Bhubaneswar: Reiterating commitment on socio-economic development and upliftment of women through its Sustainable Livelihood Initiative, HDFC Bank disbursed Rs 7.22 crores loans to 395 Self-Help Groups consisting of 3134 members in 28 districts in Odisha.
The private sector lender has organized a Mega Digital Loan Disbursement event on Thursday for SHGs of different districts of the State with the support of Mission Shakti Department through virtual mode.
Sujata R. Karthikeyan, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Mission Shakti Department, chaired the meeting and encouraged all women SHGs to focus and scaling up own livelihood. She also highlighted the importance and ways in expanding economic activities by taking the loan from bank, timely repayment and improve earning and also briefed that in digital era, banks have come out with innovative ways of reaching customers doorstep to facilitate lending and banking.
Mission Shakti Joint Secretary Binod Jena guided all SHGs on training all members for proper handholding for their betterment. Other senior officials of Mission Shakti Department were present at the meeting and facilitated digital disbursements.
Deepak Kumar Singh , Senior Vice President and Circle Head of HDFC Bank mentioned the importance of financial independence of women in society and mentioned that SHGs are path to success and progress in Odisha.
Singh briefed all on the way forward for the progressive lending by bank in this financial year.
State Head of Sustainable Livelihood Initiative (SLI) Sanjeev Mishra mentioned that HDFC Bank started lending to Women Self Help Group since 2011. In the journey of 10 years Bank has lended Rs 2100 crore (Approx) in Odisha covering 28 districts, 51 locations and benefiting 6.15 Lacs Households. Mishra also mentioned that the bank will be lending another Rs 100 crore in this Financial Year to Mission Shakti SHG’s. HDFC Bank has disbursed 12.41 crores to Mission Shakti SHGs in this FY till 31st August. Today Event of Digital disbursement was one of its kind of making loan available at doorstep.
Debendra Sahoo, SLI Cluster Head , Soubhagya Sahoo Asst Vice President and Sourava Pradhan Senior Manager were present in the Virtual Event of Loan Disbursement.
Deepak Kumar Singh Singh highlighted on the strategic collaboration with Mission Shakti will definitely help the SHGs of Odisha for their financial upliftment as well as strengthen the enterprenuering development for women empowerment which will also help in nation building.
