Health Sector on Focus, Fin Min Allocates Rs 7700 Crore

New Odisha, Empowered Odisha Through Budget 20-21

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has strived to build “New Odisha Empowered Odisha” through Budget 2020-21 with focus on the transformation of the health sector in the State.

Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari has allocated a whopping Rs 7700 crore for the health sector for 2020-21 fiscal.

The State Government has allocated Rs 1108 Crore for Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, which is the only universal health scheme with assurance of Rs 10 lakh for women and Rs 5 lakh for men.

Similarly, an allocation of Rs 578 crore has been made for Mukhyamantri Swasthya Seva Mission.

The State Government has also allocated Rs 1000 crore for SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack in order to transform it as an AIIMS-plus Hospital and Medical College.

Besides, recruitment of additional 2000 doctors, 6000 Nurses and 2000 paramedics will be done in one year.

The government has also allocated Rs 562 crore for the seven new medical colleges being constructed across the State.

With the completion of these medical colleges, the entire undivided KBK region would be covered.
