Heat Wave: BMC Asks Corporators to Open Water Kiosks in Wards

Bhubaneswar: In view of the heat wave-like condition in the capital city, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today urged the corporators to open water kiosks in their respective wards from tomorrow.

The BMC has prepared an action plan to deal with the heat wave condition in the city.
Earlier, BMC Mayor Sulochana Das chaired a meeting in the presence of Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange and discussed the preparation of an action plan to deal with the harsh summer in the BMC area.

Talking to the BMC officials, the Mayor said that the planning should be realistic for all sections of the population in the capital city and the line departments need to extend their support to prevent casualties. Water kiosks are required they need to be ready on time.

She also instructed the officials to repair the existing water ATMs and ensure their functionality.

The BMC Commissioner asked the officials to submit the subsection-wise plan and line departments’ preparedness at the earliest. He stressed on the particular sect of population like masons and daily labour like people who work under the sun for their bread need to be checked. Instead of working in mid hour like 12 to 3 pm their working hour need to changed.
After having section wise plan an SOP will be prepared for citizen awareness. Area wise RWAs, SHGs and social organisations will be requested to support the initiative, the BMC stated.
