Bhubaneswar: As the heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in various parts of Odisha over the next five days, the Special Relief Commissioner has asked the Collectors to take precautionary measures to deal with the situation.
Additional Special Relief Commissioner Padmanav Behera wrote to the Collectors of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bolangir, Boudh and Nuapada, issuing an advisory for heatwave conditions.
The IMD has forecast that there is gradual rise in maximum temperature (day temperature) by 2 degree Celsius to 3 degree Celsius during the next five days and no large change thereafter at many places over the districts of Odisha.
Heatwave conditions along with hot and humid conditions are likely to prevail in many places across the State during the next five days, the Additional Special Relief Commissioner said.
The Collectors have been asked to take the following precautionary measures to face any eventuality.
- Please do miking advising people on heatwave precautions, keep hospital in readiness and advise workers not to work in the open Sunlight from 11.00AM to 3.00PM.
- Public to take precautionary measures for hot weather while going outside during peak hours of the day (around 11.00 AM -3.00 PM).
- Avoid prolonged heat exposure.
- Wear light weight, light coloured, loose cotton clothes.
- Cover your head, use a wet cloth, hat or umbrella while going out during peak hours.
- Drink sufficient water even if not feeling thirst, to avoid dehydration
- Use ORS, homemade drinks like lassi, torani (rice water), sugarcane Juice, lemon water, butter milk etc. to rehydrate the body
- Caution workers to avoid direct sunlight during the peak hours
