Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of Human Rights Day today, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has renewed his pledge and strive to work for the rights of the vulnerable in the society.
“On Human Rights Day, let us renew our pledge to Stand Up for Human Rights and strive to work for peace, equality, justice and fight for the rights of the vulnerable in society”, the CM tweeted.

Human Rights Day is observed every year on December 10. This year it will be the 71st anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
This day is celebrated as it was on this day in 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). This year’s theme for the celebrations is “Youth Standing Up for Human Rights.
The day also acknowledges the advocates and defenders of human rights around the world.
