I-Day: 15 Odisha Police Personnel Awarded Gallantry, Meritorious and Distinguished Service Medals

New Delhi: As many as 15 police personnel of Odisha have been awarded with Gallantry, Meritorious and Distinguished Service Medals on the occasion of Independence Day 2022.

As per the Ministry of Home Affairs, two cops from Odisha have been awarded the Police Medal for Gallantry while another two received President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service. As many as 11 personnel have been awarded Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

Commandoes Kumar Karmi and Pitabasa Pande of Odisha have been awarded Police Medal for Gallantry.

Twin City Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarsi and Superintendent of Police (in-charge), security wing, Bhubaneswar, Saroj Kumar Mohapatra have received President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.

The Police Medal for Meritorious Service awards have been given to Prakash Kumar Naik, Additional superintendent of Police, Vigilance (Cell) Directorate, Cuttack; Sachidannda Rath, Deputy superintendent of Police, STF, CID, Bhubaneswar; Guruprasad Shiv Shankar Nanda, Deputy superintendent of Police, BP SPA, Bhubaneswar; Banita Maji, Deputy superintendent of Police, Rourkela; N Trinath Dora, Sub-Inspector of Police, CID, CB, Cuttack; Mohammed Jahangir, Assistant Sub Inspector of Police, Special Squad, Sambalpur; Bishnu Kumar Bura, Havildar, OSAP 2nd Battalion, Jharsuguda; Hruikesh Barik, Driver Havildar, Angul; Basant Kmar Dakua, Assistant Armourer, SOG, AET & RC, Koraput; Anjan Kumar Moahnty, Constable, DFSL Sundargarh and Prasanta Parida, Sepoy, OSAP, 3rd Battalion, Koraput;
A total of 1,082 police personnel from across the country have been awarded gallantry and other medals on the occasion of the Independence Day 2022.
