Bhubaneswar: Akash Pathak, son of IFS officer Abhay Pathak, who is under vigilance scanner for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets, had reportedly duped people in the pretext of providing them jobs.
At a time when the disproportionate assets recovered so far by vigilance sleuths from the IFS officer already crossed crores of rupees, his son’s corrupt practices published in some section of media is even more surprising.
Akash Pathak, who also leads an extravagant lifestyle like his father, had cheated people of money by promising them to offer jobs at TATA Motors, according to media reports.
The IFS officer’s son has claimed himself to be MD at TATA Motors in order to make the people believe in him. He had allegedly used fake documents, logo and email ID of TATA Motors to cheat the people in the pretext of providing jobs during the lockdown.
The media reports also suggest that Akash Pathak’s marriage had been fixed with the daughter of an MLA. The wedding ceremony was supposed to be held on December 11 at a luxurious hotel in Rajasthan. The Pathak family has reportedly made arrangements for the wedding.
As per the reports, the vigilance department has brought Akash Pathak to Bhubaneswar from Mumbai by flight and has taken into custody for interrogation.
Meanwhile, the vigilance sleuths reportedly traced disproportionate assets from the possession of the Abhay Kant Pathak during the ongoing marathon raids at multiple places.
Vigilance sleuths continued to raid at the residence of IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak and 12 other places in and outside the State for the second day today.
The investigators have unearthed huge amounts of unaccounted money. The vigilance sleuths have also found 10 air tickets from his office and gold ornaments of about 25 lakh rupees from his house. His statement is being recorded.
The anti-corruption officers have so far unearthed over half kg of gold and Rs. 10 lakh cash from the house of the 1987 batch IFS officer.
Pathak and his family had reportedly travelled in chartered flight at least 20 times to Mumbai, Delhi, Patna and Pune during the lockdown and post-lockdown, according to reports.
The vigilance sleuths have reportedly searched Pathak’s costlier apartment in Khandagiri area, which had Italian marble flooring, a bed made of ivory worth over 60 lakh rupees, and other luxury items, reports added.
Pathak is currently serving as Additional PCCF Plan Programme and Afforestation at the office of PCCF, Odisha.
