Bhubaneswar: India has reported 10,158 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. It is the highest number of daily cases India has reported in the last 230 days. With this, the number of active cases in the country has risen to 44,998. Yesterday, the country had reported 7,830 positive cases. The daily positivity rate in India stood at 4.42 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was 4.02 per cent.
According to government sources, the Covid Pandemic in India has entered the endemic stage and cases are likely to will rise for the next 10-12 days, after which the infections will come down.
Sources have also said that the XBB.1.16 subvariant of Omicron, which is responsible for the current rise in the cases, is not a cause of worry and vaccines are effective against it.
