Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal’s Chandrani Murmu, who has scripted history by becoming the youngest Lok Sabha Member, made it to the cover page of India Today with the tag “THE NEW BRIGADE”.
Murmu, the woman MP from Odisha’s Keonjhar Lok Sabha constituency, has featured on the latest cover story of national prestigious magazine along with the politicians who have made their debut in the Lok Sabha Election 2019.
In the cover pic, the 25-year-old BJD MP is seen with other newly elected members of Lok Sabha such as Pallab Lochan Das from the Tezpur Parliamentary Constituency, Bengali actress turned politician Mimi Chakraborty and former cricketer Gautam Gambhir, actor turned politician Amol Kohle and Ravi Kishan, Tejasvi Surya.
“Our cover story, The New Brigade’, put together by the India today team, gives you a snapshot of our new Lok Sabha. The sole factor binding various categories of first-time MPs, whether women or celebrities, is their winning prospects”, writes the editor in chief of magazine in the article.
Murmu, a B.Tech student from Odisha, won the Lok Sabha election against two-time BJP MP Ananta Nayak by a margin of 66,203 votes.
She is one of five women MPs that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik-led BJD has sent to the Parliament.
