New Delhi: Bringing more than 20 years of academic excellence to the 4A’s of education (availability, accessibility, acceptability and adaptability), Infinity Learn by Sri Chaitanya has designed a learning model that guarantees 100 per cent student success.
The aim is clear: To give students the best of both offline and online experience in the “hybrid normal”.
Siva Kumar Vaddi, Head of Engineering at Infinity Learn, told IANS that Infinity Learn is the fast-growing edtech platform in India and has achieved two million-plus registered users and 100K+ paid users on the platform in a span of one year since its commercial launch.
Here are excerpts from the interview:
Q: What is Infinity Learn’s USP within the EdTech landscape?
A: Infinity Learn is designed as a one-stop solution for in-school and after-school learning where some of the best faculty along with more than 2 million learning content including adaptive practice questions, solutions, flashcards, videos come together seamlessly to give 360 degree learning.
Our three core areas of focus and delivery are motivation, engagement and outcome.
Our 4A (Assessments, Attend Live Classes, Ask Doubt 24X7, Assimilate) learning model uniquely designed after 20 yrs of excellence to ensure every student is successful in their preparation.
Q: What is your long-term vision/mission?
A: Our long term vision/mission is our Code 2025. Our mission purpose is to improve the learning outputs to enable measurable progress of our learners.
“Learning journeys” represents a continuous learning process across grades and puts the learner on the path to progress.
We deliver personalised “in-class and after-class” Hybrid Learning Solutions and align ourselves every day to work with honest efforts and passion and produce best in class learner solutions.
Q: Tell us about the scale of your operations in India?
A: Backed by Asia’s largest Education group Sri Chaitanya, Infinity Learn is the fastest-growing EdTech company in India. Led by people with the purpose of aPower Learner’s Progress’, it has achieved one million-plus registered users and 100K+ paid users on the platform in a span of 10 months since its commercial launch (June, 2021).
Q: Can you share a few customer success stories?
A: The top rank holders of the prestigious NEET 2021 Examination are students of Sri Chaitanya Educational Institution, the national leader in test preparatory services, like Khandavally Shashank, Gorripati Rushil (from the Class room programme) and Suyash Arora (from our Distance Learning Programme).
We also secured 25+ top ranks below 100 ranks. This stupendous result comes close on the heels of the recently announced JEE ADVANCED 2O21 result where Sri Chaitanya’s students secured 26 ranks below 100.
Q: What do you think about the trend of buying physical learning centres which has started?
A: The Indian education system has been widely recognised for its intense focus on academics and continuous pursuit to drive students towards a successful journey of learning. Edtech products are now more mainstream or at least the ambition is to go mainstream. And for that, they will particularly need a hybrid approach.
There is also a growing demand for inter-personal mentoring for Learners that is accessible and affordable in Tier II/ II cities. This does not mean that there is a dearth of good teachers there. However, there is definitely a void of students availing a conducive learning ambience coupled with appropriate learning activities which is probably the most important of all the steps towards quality teaching and learning.A
To bridge this gap, we (Infinity Learn by Sri Chaitanya) have brought to students of tier II/ III cities a physical presence through aThe Knowledge Hub’ that is designed (backed with extensive market research) with an aim to bring an engaged learning environment and encourage higher levels of student performance.
Q: What has cloud technology and AWS enabled you to do better?
A: As Infinity Learn started building and growing, our applications are now being used by more than 2 million users.
While we were able to provide a great customer experience through the solutions developed and as we increased ,scale and concurrency was not easy to manage. We constantly had to improvise our strategy to scale.
We spent too much effort on scaling, rather than creating value for our clients. We want to continuously improve the quality of service we deliver, steadily reduce costs, concurrency and develop and deploy new products faster. Meeting all these goals was only possible by making the leap to the cloud.
Every day on Infinity Learn, thousands of users from every corner of India access Infinity edtech platform to advance education.
Either learners are taking an assessment, attending a live class, asking a doubt or assimilate learning using IL platform.
The platform has become an increasingly important part of many success stories of learners in the educational landscape.
Infinity Learn began its cloud journey from day one for Learn clients to AWS, taking advantage of several key services, including Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS), Amazon Elasticsearch, Amazon ElastiCache, and Amazon Lambda. As a result, Infinity Learn was able to handle the users with ease.
Q: In terms of business outcomes, what benefits have you experienced because of running on AWS?
A: Utilising the AWS infrastructure allows us to do things more efficiently and gives us the ability to innovate. Our new Adaptive learning with tenant specific solution offering, is a good example where we are leveraging AWS technologies to build a platform that provides data-driven insight for our Learners to have a personalized learning road map to achieve their goals with.
We achieved a highly available system that could meet and cater to an increasing number of customer’s entitlements and customers for all the verticals.
We also achieved the ability to scale the application as and when required by leveraging auto-scaling and load balancing features of AWS.
We found it easy to scale the application in case of certain events such as tests, Concurrent Live classes , etc. The entitlements per second were at peak for a few hours and such peak results are seen every week, lasting for a maximum of 2 to 5 hours long.
The solution provided enables the customer to roll out features faster compared to their previous experience. They were able to achieve a fault-tolerant architecture.
On the infrastructure side, our team decided on using Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) to deliver on the scalable requirement and Amazon CloudFront to ensure high availability. Amazon CloudFront also acts as a second layer of caching on top of the results that were cached in Amazon ElastiCache for Redis.
Overall, we could achieve a standard latency of less than 100 milli secs for our service calls with an availability of 99.9 per cent.
By using AWS, we improved time to launch for a digital marketing campaign from two days to an average of 8 hours.
