Dubai: Delhi Capitals produced all-round performance to beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 59 runs in the 19th match of the IPL 2020 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, here on Monday.
Kohli won the toss and opted to bowl first. Delhi Capitals posted a mammoth total of 196/4 in 20 overs. Marcus Stoinis was the leading scorer, as he remained unbeaten on 53 from 26 balls. Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant too showed some power as the duo scored 42 (23) and 37 (25) respectively.
In reply, RCB’s chase didn’t get off to a solid start. In-form Padikkal fell early, trying to take on the veteran Ravi Ashwin in the powerplays. RCB’s top four perished soon, which sealed the outcome of the match.
While Finch got plenty of reprieves, he along with AB de Villiers couldn’t do much. Chase-master Kohli had lots riding on his shoulders. Despite him scoring a gutsy 43 off 39 balls, it wasn’t threatening enough before the regular fall of wickets led to his dismissal too. With this win, the Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi unit have climbed to the top of the points table.
