Berhampur: Adding another jewel to its crown of successes, the ITI Berhampur has received the coveted awards at the National Competition on Welded Marvels 2022 held at Chennai under Project Trash to Treasure organized by the International Institute of Welding.
The ITI Berhampur team has won the 1st prize and the second prize in the competition. It’s Waste to Wealth sculptures – a six feet Mahatma Gandhi Sculpture made with scrap won the first prize and a cash award of Rs 25,000. The team was led by Bichitra Kumar Padhiari. The runners up award was also won by the Berhampur ITI team for its 8 feet Fish Scrap Sculpture. The team was led by Anil Kumar Mishra.
The sculptures were displayed at the Chennai Trade Center and were declared as the Welded Marvels 2022.
All the sculpture projects were developed using automobile scrap. The students of ITI Berhampur and the entire staff are very elated for this achievement. The sculptures have been made using the creative skills of the students and have great demand in the market. They can fetch lakhs of rupees and be precious collectible articles for offices, institutions and museums. Dr Rajat Panigrahy, who is also known as the scrap man of Odisha, was the mentor of the project. They will be awarded cash prize of Rs 25 thousand and Rs 15 thousand in the upcoming semi AE at Chennai on the 19th of January.
