Jajpur: The Jajpur Police has arrested five persons in the alleged newborn baby girl sale issue including the father of the baby and an Anganwadi Worker. The incident had occurred on the 27th of January in Sanaraipada village in Kotapur Panchayat under Dharmasala Block of Jajpur. All the accused have been court forwarded. The husband and wife duo that had allegedly purchased the newborn girl child are among the arrested.
Kanchana Behera, wife of Natabara Behera, of Sanaraipada had given birth to a baby girl on the 27th of this month. It was alleged that due to poverty, the baby was sold to a couple belonging to Mahakalapada for Rs 12 thousand rupees by the father Natabara Behera. After getting information from locals regarding the sale of the child, the District Child Protection Unit swung into action and filed an FIR at the Dharmasala Police Station. The unit members went to the buyers home and rescued the child. Later, the five persons involved in the issue were arrested by the police.
