Jharsuguda By-Poll: BJD Seeks Action against Odisha BJP Leaders for Violating MCC 

Bhubaneswar: Ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has demanded action against Odisha BJP leaders for allegedly violating Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in the ensuing Jharsuguda by-election.

A delegation of BJD submitted a petition to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) seeking action against BJP MLA Kusum Tete and BJP Jharsuguda by-poll candidate Tankadhar Tripathy for violating MCC by threatening and assaulting BJD workers in Niktimal under Laikera block in Jharsuguda Assembly constituency.

Last evening Tete and Tripathy reached along with their party workers and supporters reached Niktimal under Laikera block where the by-poll campaigning was underway. When they came across BID workers campaigning, they asked Biju Janata Dal workers to stop campaigning and go with them. When the BID workers did not do that, the supporters of Kusum Tete and Tankadhar attacked a BID worker Dilip Pradhan. A group of BJP workers also abused the BJD workers who were campaigning at Gandapda Mandap, the BJD delegation told the CEO.
