Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government may issue guidelines for JN.1 variant of COVID-19, if there is necessary.
This has been informed by Bijay Kumar Mohapatra, Director of Health Services, Odisha on Tuesday.
Earlier on Monday, the Centre has issued an advisory to the States and UTs in view of the recent surge in COVID-19 cases and the detection of the first case of the new JN.1 variant of COVID-19 in the country.
The Odisha Government has kept a watch on the situation. If required, necessary guidelines will be issued in Odisha. New variant JN.1 has not been found in the State, so far. In the case of detection of such case, genome sequencing will be carried out, Mohapatra said.
As advised by the Central Government, surveillance of symptomatic cases will continue in the State, he said while adding that the State has sufficient beds and logistics for treatment of patients.
