Bhubaneswar: In a remarkable step, the Odisha Government has decided to bring the experience of joy of flying in the special children and boost their morale and aspirations.
The State Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) has teamed up with Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India, for the initiative.
As per the decision, Alliance Air will run a special flight for differently-abled children on January 22.
As many as 44 special children will board the flight on the mentioned date and experience the joy of flying for about 40 minutes over the city airspace.
The SSEPD has selected 21 girls and 23 boys from Bhubaneswar and Baripada for the special flight.
The special children in the age group of 9 to 18 years will be accompanied by 21 escorts.
The children will hold a performance to celebrate their excitement before boarding the flight at Bhubaneswar airport.
Alliance Air had earlier taken underprivileged women for a special flight, but this is the first initiative for special children.
