Bhubaneswar: In a significant development, the state government has decided to invest Rs. 200 cr for redevelopment of the Kalinga Studio, which will in turn give much needed boost to the entertainment industry.
A decision to this effect was taken at a high-level meeting held under chairmanship of Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra today.
Chief Secretary directed the concerned officials to develop it as a state of the art futuristic studio with competitive business model.
Development Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Jena has instructed the authorities to work out the details of investment plan, employment potential and revenue generation time-frame model to make it a sustainable and competitive.
According to the plan, IDCO will execute the project and it would be developed with three main zones.
While Zone-1 will be equipped with the facilities like indoor shooting floors, shooting facades, central country yard, film tech zone, commercial space and cafeteria, Zone-2 would have outdoor shooting facilitates, shooting locales, theme-based shooting gardens, kids zones, castle view, snow world and adventure land.
Similarly, Zone-3 will have food court, boarding and lodging facilities for the film crew, space for social and wedding destination.
The chief secretary directed the department to go ahead with tendering process for completing the base-level earth work before the monsoon.
