Keonjhar: The Keonjhar District Administration through DMF Sakshyam – Advanced Rehabilitation Centre (ARC), Keonjhar aims to provide the best-in-class services for the rehabilitation of People with Disabilities (PwDs), Children with Disabilities (CwDs), vulnerable and elderly people.
DMF Sakshyam Advanced Rehabilitation Centre (ARC) is setup with an objective to assist patients and beneficiaries who are amputees, patients with joint injuries, undergone joint replacement surgeries, muscular dystrophy, musculoskeletal disorders, accidental injuries, traumatic conditions, fractures, stroke / cerebrovascular injury, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, muscular disorders, bone related disorders” etc.
Today, during the ‘District Level Joint Hearing of Public Grievances’, Ashish Thakare, Collector & District Magistrate cum Managing Trustee, DMF Keonjhar distributed around 38 number of Electric Motorized Wheelchairs.
Chief Development Officer cum Executive Officer Zilla Parishad (CDO cum EO ZP) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) DMF Keonjhar; Additional District Magistrate (General), Keonjhar; Executive Officer (EO) Kendujhar Municipality; District Social Security Officer (DSSO) Keonjhar; Chief District Medical & Public Health Officer (CDM&PHO) Keonjhar; and other were present on the occasion.
DMF Sakshyam – Advanced Rehabilitation Centre (ARC) Keonjhar was inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on 18th November 2021. A total of 370 motorized wheelchairs, 231 artificial limbs, 5 high-end limbs have been distributed and 1,141 robotic therapy sessions have been provided till date. Free of cost distribution of electric motorized wheelchairs, artificial limbs, high-end limbs is a continuous process and a greater number of disabled beneficiaries in Keonjhar have been identified. They shall be provided with electric motorized wheelchairs, artificial limbs, high-end limbs on a regular basis. These electric motorized wheelchairs are very beneficial for enhanced mobility of the PWCs and CWCs.
Exceptional features of these high-end Electric Motorized Wheelchairs with Joystick include ‘Ergonomic seat system provides a comfort seating; Reclining and folding backrest; Adjustable Height and detachable arm rest, footrest; 24V 20 AH Battery’ among others.
District Administration, Keonjhar through DMF Sakshyam aspires for providing entire spectrum of rehabilitation services for enhancing the quality of life for the ‘Differently abled People’, the elderly and for the betterment of the lives of people in Keonjhar. A total of Rs. 37 Crores have been sanctioned under DMF Keonjhar for DMF Sakshyam — ARC. In addition to this, around 6 more Therapeutic Centres in the form of Spokes for the Integrated Disability Rehabilitation Centre (IDRC) shall soon be operationalized in Keonjhar, an official release said.
