Berhampur: Berhampur University, one of the oldest universities in Odisha, is implementing best practices with an aim to make the campus pollution free and create a sense of unity and integrity among the employees.
The varsity has asked the teaching and non-teaching staffs to wear khadi cloths to campus every ‘Friday’ and avoid use of personal vehicles inside the campus on every ‘Saturday’.
The initiative has been taken to create awareness for nationality, patriotism, unity and integrity among all the employees of the university, stated Prof. Geetanjali Dash, Vice Chancellor of Berhampur University.
The initiatives will be implemented from February 10 and 11, 2023.
“ ln connection with observance of best practices, the Vice-Chancellor has been pleased to take the initiative for wearing of khadi cloths at least one day per week i.e. on every ‘Friday’ to create awareness for nationality/ patriotism/ unity and integrity among all the employees of the University. Hence, all the employees (both teaching & non-teaching) are requested to wear khadi dress / saree on every Friday during office hours. This new vision and mission will be started in this University with effect from coming week i e, from 10d February, 2022”, an order issued by the university reads.
The University also asked the employees and students to avoid use of any personal vehicles on Saturday with an aim to make the campus pollution free and to encourage zero emission at least one day per week.
“ln connection with observance of best practices the Vice-Chancellor has been pleased to take an initiative to make the campus pollution free and to encourage zero emission at least one day per week. Hence, all employees (both teaching & non-teaching) and students are requested to avoid use any personal vehicles, bikes, Scotties etc. inside the campus on every ‘Saturday’”. On this day only electric vehicles may be used inside the campus. This new vision and mission will be started in this University with effect from coming week i.e. from 11 February, 2022”, it stated.
