Bhubaneswar: In a significant development in stone mining irregularities case, Khurda Tehsildar Subhendra Samal and Khurda Sadar police station inspector in-charge Bikram Jena on Saturday appeared before the Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch for their suspected links with the stone mining mafia in Khurda district.
According to reports, STF reportedly got information about IIC Jena and Tehsildar Samal following the arrest of some 30 people associated with illegal stone quarrying in Khurda tehsil and Sadar police station area in the last three months.
The STF during interrogation of the accused, came to know about alleged involvement between the mining mafia, some corrupt Government officials and local politicians.
Both the IIC and Tehsildar are accused of showing undue favour to some miners.
Both the officials, however, denied any any involvement in any illegal stone quarrying and involvement with any mining mafia.
