New Delhi: Adding another feather to its cap, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, the Bhubaneswar based premier deemed university has been accorded the prestigious Institution of Eminence tag by the Ministry of Human Resources Development.
KIIT is one of the twelve public and private universities that have got the tag this year. It is the only University from Odisha to have been included in the list.
Achyuta Samanta, founder of KIIT and KISS has congratulated the students, guardians and employees for this recognition. He said, “It is a matter of pride for Odisha as KIIT is the only institute of the State to get the prestigious tag.”
According to a release by the PIB, the UGC, in its 542nd meeting held on 02nd August 2019 has considered the reports of the Empowered Expert Committee (EEC) appointed by the Government under the Chairmanship of Shri N Gopalaswami recommending (15) Public institutions and (15) Private institutions for considering to give status of Institutions of Eminence.
The other private institutions included in the list are OP Jindal University, at Sonipat, Shiv Nadar University at Greater Noida, Jamia Hamdard at New Delhi, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham at Bengaluru, VIT Vellore and Bharti University.
