New Delhi: The Supreme Court today asked the Andhra Pradesh to file a response to a plea filed by the Odisha Government alleging that neighboring State had notified Panchayat polls in Kotia of Koraput district violating a status quo ordered by the apex court.
A Bench headed by Justice AM Khanwilkar heard the matter and directed Advocate Mahfooz A. Nazki, appearing on behalf of Andhra Pradesh, to file a response to the plea, according to reports.
The matter will now be listed on next Friday.
Vikas Singh, senior advocate, who has appeared on behalf of the State of Odisha, alleged that local body elections were going to be held in the three villages which the Andhra Pradesh over from Odisha violation a status quo order of the Supreme Court.
The bench directed for the Petitioner to serve an advanced copy of the petition to the Standing Counsel for Andhra Pradesh.
