Bhubaneswar: The Labour & Employees’ State Insurance Department will be included in the “Mo Sarkar” initiative from New Year.
As part of the initiative, the Odisha Government is formulating an action plan to address the plight of the migrant labourers in the State.
Largely people from districts like Balangir, Kalahandi and Nuapada migrate to the neighbouring states in search of work, Labour & Employees’ State Insurance Minister Susanta Singh told to media after presiding over a meeting of the District Labour Welfare Officers here in city.
These three districts, where migration is rampant, will be given priority while taking steps to arrest distress migration of the labourers from Odisha, he added.
Hostels are being constructed for the children of the migrant labourers so that they could continue their studies even if their parents are away from home.
The State Government has already started help desk in city like Delhi and States like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu to provide immediate assistance to the migrant labouers from Odisha, he said.
Besides, Government is also planning to set up a special help desk in Delhi for labourers working abroad.
The special help desk will stay in touch with the External Affairs Ministry to know the details about labourers of the state.
