Bhubaneswar: With the third day of counting for the three-tier Panchayat Polls undergoing smoothly, the Biju Janata Dal is looking at creating history by winning more than 750 Zilla Parishad seats. The trends and results received till 11 am today show that the Biju Janata Dal is way ahead of all others by winning 518 ZP seats out of the 585 seats declared. In total, the BJD is ahead of others in 730 seats out of the total 851 seats. This will be the BJD’s record performance in the grassroots level Panchayat elections. The BJP and the Congress are expected to get less than 100 seats combined.
