Bhubaneswar: Dr Lekhasri Samantsinghar today joined the Biju Janata Dal. She joined the ruling party in a program held at the Sankha Bhawan. She had quit the BJP earlier today. Lekhasri was the Vice-president of Odisha BJP. In her resignation letter, she had written that her desire to serve the people of Odisha was being hampered in the BJP.
On behalf of BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik and Organisational Secretary Pranab Prakash Das, Lekhasri was welcomed into the party fold by senior leader and Rajya Sabha member Manas Mangaraj. During the joining program, Manas Mangaraj said that, her joining will further strengthen the party as she is a well known face in the state politics. She joined the Biju Janata Dal inspired by the Chief Minister’s good governance and development.
On this occasion, senior leader and Rajya Sabha member Sasmit Patra said that Lekhasri has worked like a friend during the media debates. She will definitely contribute in achieving the Chief Minister’s dream of creating a developed Odisha. Senior leader and former Balasore MP Rabindra Jena said that Lekhasri joined the party inspired by the ideals of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. She had an opportunity to work with us before but she could not due to some reasons. Today, it is her homecoming.
Lekhasri Samantsighar thanked the party for welcoming her wholeheartedly. She said “I have quit the BJP. No change is easy. Change is continuous. If you want to go forward, you have to face the change. Since the last 10 years, I gave my 100 percent to the BJP. The desire to serve the people cannot be fulfilled in the BJP. Despite working with such determination, I could not earn the trust of the leadership.”
Lekhasri also said that, she decided to join the development journey led by the Chief Minister who is driving development in Odisha. She thanked Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Karthik Pandayan and Pranab Prakash Das.
