Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal is planning a grand and rousing welcome for Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on his receiving the prestigious Life Time Achievement Award from the Capital Foundation Society.
The party has made all efforts to organize a grand welcome rally tomorrow when the Chief Minister is scheduled to return to the state after his six-day tour of Delhi.
While a number of senior leaders including Ministers, Members of Parliament, MLAs were present in Delhi to witness the award giving function, a large gathering and rally is being organized in Bhubaneswar for the Chief Minister on Tuesday.
Members of various wings of the BJD including Biju Chatra Janata Dal, Biju Yuva Janata Dal and Biju Mahila Janata Dal will join the celebrations. People from across the state and cutting across sections are expected to gather in large numbers in Bhubaneswar tomorrow to give a grand welcome to the Chief Minister.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was presented the coveted Capital Foundation Life Time Achievement Award in recognition to his distinctive leadership. Former Chief Justice of India NV Ramana handed over the Award to Naveen in the presence of Justice A K Patnaik and a host of other dignitaries yesterday at the India International Centre, New Delhi.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has dedicated the award to the four and half crore people of Odisha and said that “The faith the people of Odisha have in me is the biggest inspiration to work towards an empowered Odisha.”
“Under the leadership of Patnaik, Odisha’s transformative journey began and the State witnessed rapid strides in every sector over the next two decades. His simplicity, kind-heartedness and impeccable integrity has won the hearts of the people of Odisha,” the Capital Foundation Society has stated.
Established in 1987, the Capital Foundation Society is one of the most prestigious voluntary organisations in the country which has been engaged in providing a platform for policy dialogue and debate on issues of national and international importance. The Board of Governors of the Capital Foundation Society include Judges of the Supreme Court, cabinet ministers, senior civil servants, political leaders representing different parties and interests, academics, defence and police chiefs, jurists, social workers, etc.
Some of the Capital Foundation Awardees include former Prime Minister I K Gujaral, Senior Advocate Ram Jethmalani, former Union Minister Murli Manohar Joshi, Senior Jurist Fali S. Nariman, and former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee.
