Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has decided to enact a special Act for the 11th century Lingaraj Temple on the line of Puri Jagannath Temple, informed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here today.
Addressing media after reviewing the progress of beautification project of the Lingaraj Temple at Ekamra Kshetra this evening, Patnaik expressed his gratitude to people who have handed over their land to the administration for the beautification project.
CM hopes that the beautification project will draw more pilgrims and tourists to Ekamra Kshetra.
Replying to a query on time frame of the Act, Culture Minister Ashok Panda said that it will be a lengthy process as the legislative proposal has to pass through various stages.
Elaborating the process Panda said, first, the proposal needs to be approved by the State Cabinet. After passing it in the Assembly, and approval of the Governor it need to get the assent President of India, he added.
