Low Pressure Area Likely to Form over Odisha on Aug 7, Heavy Rainfall Warning for Several Dists

Bhubaneswar: A Low Pressure Area is likely to form over Northwest & adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal around August 7, said the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Regional Centre Bhubaneswar while predicting heavy rainfall for several districts in the Sate for the next five days.

Under the influence of gradual strengthening of monsoon flow and the anticipated low-pressure area, rainfall activity is very likely to increase gradually from 5th August and widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur during 6th to 10th August 2022 over the district, the IMD stated.

Day-1 (valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 05.08.2022):

Light to Moderate Rain or Thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Odisha.
Day-2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 05.08.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 06.08.2022):

Yellow Warning( Be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Gajapati and Ganjam.

Day-3 (VALID FROM 0830 HRS IST OF 06.08.2022 UP TO 0830 HRS IST OF 07.08.2022):

Yellow Warning( Be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Puri, Boudh, Angul, Khurda, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Bhadrak.

Day-4 (valid 0830 hrs IST of 07.08.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 08.08.2022):
Orange Warning( Be prepared): Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Gajapati.
Impact: Possibility of temporarily water logging in low-lying areas and landslides/mudslides in vulnerable hilly areas.

Yellow Warning( Be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Nuapada, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Bargarh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Puri and Jagatsinghpur.

Day-5 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 06.08.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 07.08.2022):

Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Puri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Malkangiri and Koraput.

Impact: Possibility of temporarily water logging in low-lying areas and landslides/mudslides in vulnerable hilly areas.

Yellow Warning( Be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Nayagarh, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Boudh, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Sonepur, Bargarh and Angul.
