Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over Southeast Bay of Bengal anytime in the next 24 hours and under its influence a Low Pressure area is likely to form over the same area by 7th May. It is likely to concentrate into a depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal around 8th May. Thereafter, it is also likely to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm moving nearly northwards towards Central bay of Bengal. While the exact details of the movement of the Cyclonic Storm can be ascertained only after the formation of the Low Pressure, The IMD has issued warning for fishermen for deep sea are of Southeast Bay of Bengal adjoining the Andaman sea and Central Bay of Bengal. Once it is declared as a cyclonic Storm, it will be known as Cyclone Mocha.
Under its influence, Andaman & Nicobar Islands are expected to receive rainfall between 7th and 10th May. The wind speed is also likely to reach 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph on 7th May. All coastal states including Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal are alert and preparations are on to thwart any damage to live and property.
