Bhubaneswar: The Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Northwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal off south Odisha and adjoining north Andhra Pradesh coasts is likely to concentrate into a Depression by tomorrow mid day and move west-northwestwards across Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
Under the influence of the low pressure, heavy rains are expected in many Odisha Districts. The Meteorological Department has issued Red Warning to three districts – Gajapati, Ganjam and Kandhamal, where heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at a few places (7 to 20cm) with extremely heavy rainfall (>20cm) at isolated places. Likewise, Orange warning has been issued for Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, and Kalahandi. The MET has also issued yellow warning to Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore.
The state is going to experience heavy rains along with lightning in the next five days.
Under the influence of the Well-Marked low pressure area squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph very likely over Northwest adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast till 11th August, 2022. Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea along and off Odisha coast and Northwest adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal till 11th August, 2022.
