Bhubaneswar: A project proposal worth Rs 112 crore has been approved by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for the complete transformation of the Mahima Gadi Pitha at Joranda in Dhenkanal district.
Earlier on May 29, on the direction of the Chief Minister, Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian visited the Mahima Pitha and held discussions with the sadhus and devotees about the overall transformation of this famous Pitha and advised to submit a project report within 15 days.
According to this suggestion, the Dhenkanal Collector presented a project proposal of Rs 112 crore to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for his approval.
The transformation project emphasizes on the overall development of the Pitha along with various facilities for the devotees.
As per the plans, reconstruction of samadhi temple, prayer house, wall, restoration of pond, bus stand, Kaupin Dhari Mahima Samaj Pitha reconstruction, primary health center etc. will be constructed.
Inside the Pitha, the entire area with internal roads will be illuminated. A road will be constructed from the Jagannath temple to the school grounds.
For beautification, 200 palm trees and 200 banyan trees will be planted along with restoration of the big pond in the east. Promenade will be constructed with lighting. 200 toilets will also be constructed for the sadhus and devotees.
The entire project will have all kinds of facilities for sadhus, devotees, and guests. All steps will be taken to make it a major pilgrimage and tourist center of the district along with beautification, as per an official release.
