Malkangiri: Maoist Carrying Rs 4 Lakh Reward Surrenders before Police

Malkangiri: A wanted Maoist carrying a cash reward of Rs 4 lakh on his head surrendered before the police in Odisha’s Malkangiri district.

Jipro Habika, an Area Committee Member of Gumma Area Committee under MKVB Division of the Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) of the CPI (Maoist) shun violence to join the mainstream of the society.

Habika had joined the banned CPI (Maoist) in 2012. He was wanted in several criminal cases including exchanges of fire with police and security personnel and Pottangi landmine blast, according to reports.

Habika will be provided monetary assistance as per Surrender and Rehabilitation Scheme of Government of Odisha and financial assistance for building house, pursuing studies and training in a trade/vocational of her liking, said Malkangiri SP Rishikesh Dnyandeo Khilari.
