Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department has issued Orange Warning for intense spells of rain for Bhubaneswar and Cuttack twin cities. These cities have been receiving heavy rains since morning and the rains are likely to continue. Many places of Capital city Bhubaneswar reported road blockages and traffic jams due to overflowing rain water. Many places such as Nayapalli, Iscon Temple road, Jayadev Bihar, Laxmisagar, Old Town, Rajmahal, Master Canteen, witnessed waterlogging. In Cuttack, water logging was reported in Rausapatana, Madhupatana, Badambadi and many other places. While Cuttack received 41.8 millimeters of rainfall till 8.30 am, Bhubaneswar received 14.7 mm rainfall till 8.30 am.
According to the Met Department “A cyclonic circulation lies over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha-Gangetic West Bengal coasts and extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height. It is likely to move west-northwestwards across north Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal & Jharkhand during next 2-3 days. The Monsoon Trough at mean sea level now passes through Ganganagar, Hisar, Aligarh, Orai, Sidhi, Daltonganj, Digha and thence southeastwards to eastcentral Bay of Bengal and extends upto 0.9 km above mean sea level.
