Met Issues Orange Warning For Eight Districts As Depression Moves Westwards To South Chhattisgarh

Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department has issued Orange Warning for eight districts of Odisha which are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rains in the next 24 hours. Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Bargarh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kandhamal, Lakahandi and Nabarangpur districts have been issued Orange warning till tomorrow morning. According to the MET Department, the Depression over south Odisha moved nearly westwards with a speed of 28 kmph during past 6hrs and is about 160 km west of Bhawanipatna. It is likely to move nearly westwards across south Chhattisgarh during the next 12 hours weaken gradually.

On Sunday, many places of Odisha received incessant rains due to the Depression. Dhenkanal received the highest rainfall in the state with 154 mm rains in the last 24 hours. The state received 270 percent excess rain than normal in the last 24 hours.
