Bhubaneswar: Odisha Television Limited managing director Jagi Mangat Panda has been asked to appear in person before the Odisha State Commission for Women (OSCW) on September 21 in connection with the minor girl gang rape case in the capital city.
Speaking to Thenewsroom.co.in, Chairperson, OSCW Dr Minati Behera said, “Based on the complaint of the victim’s mother, we have issued a summon to Jagi Mangat Panda to appear in person before the Commission”.
The development takes place on the heels of viral of an audio tape on social media, which was supposedly a telephonic conversation purportedly between the OTV MD and the minor girl rape victim’s mother.
In the conversation, the private channel’s MD had reportedly asked the mother to bring the minor girl to the office and then she would take action.
Earlier, the Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) directed the Commissionerate Police and Khordha Collector to take strong legal action against the managing director of the Bhubaneswar-based private news channel in connection with the alleged gangrape of a minor girl by some employees of the channel.
The victim’s mother, who was working as a receptionist in the channel, had earlier lodged a complaint with the OSCPCR.
