Bhubaneswar: The “Mission Indradhanush 2.0”, a universal vaccination drive, is slated to be launched in five districts in Odisha from December 2.
The districts are Gajapati, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri and Rayagada.
In a letter to Collectors of these districts, National Health Mission MD Shalini Pandit urged them to take necessary steps to make the vaccination drive successful.
The vaccination drive will be organized in four phases. While the first phase will start on December 2, the second, third and fourth phases will be held on January 6, February 3 and March 2 next year respectively.
The NHM MD has urged the officials to ensure that all children under the age of two and pregnant women will be covered under this drive.
Mission Indradhanush is a Central government initiative launched in 2014 with an aim to achieve full immunization.
Ganjam and Khurda districts will be awarded by the Health Ministry on the occasion of ‘On Pulse Polio Silver- Jubilee’ ceremony on October 31 for achieving more than 90 per cent full immunization protection via intensive efforts throughout intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) in 2017-18.
