MKCG Doctors Successfully Conduct Critical Operation

Berhampur: Adding another feather to its cap of successful achievements, a team of doctors at MKCG Medical College and Hospital have successfully conducted a critical operation on a nine year old girl who was suffering from the rare Cushing Syndrome. This is the first of its kind operation in Odisha.

According to sources, the doctors’ team of the MKCG Medical College including paediatric surgeons, urologists, anesthesia, and paediatrics departments conducted the rare operation.

The rare Cushing Syndrome happens due to genetic disorder called Primary Pigmented Nodular Adrenocortical Disease (PPNAD), and is seen rarely in less than one in two lakh people. The Doctors performed laparoscopic bilateral adrenalectomy on the nine year old girl. It was a three hour long operation and was conducted on the 9th of April. The girl is said to be recovering well after the operation. The critical operation involved laproscopic removal of both side adrenal glands.
