Bhubaneswar: In yet another move to take the good governance initiatives to the downtrodden, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today included Women and Child Development (WCD) and Mission Shakti department under the purview of Mo Sarkar programme.
The Chief Minister made the announcement at a special function through video conferencing from Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.
While announcing the inclusion, Patnaik said that the WCD department plays an incredible role in the development of women and children in the state.
The WCD department has played a significant role in reducing the mother and child mortality rate across the state by providing the small kids in Anganwadi Centres nutritious food, he added.
Similarly, the Mission Shakti working for the economic empowerment of rural women in which around 70 lakh women are associated with is also included under the Mo Sarkar initiative.
Besides, CM also advised the employees and members of WCD and Mission Shakti to ensure transparency in their work by avoiding all sorts of corrupts practices.
Among other Women and Child Development and Mission Shakti Minister Tukuni Sahoo and senior government officials including Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy and 5T Secretary V K Pandian were present in the event.
