Bhubaneswar: Odisha DGP Abhay has placed Inspector In-Charge of Kankadahad police station of Dhenkanal district Pramod Kumar Lenka under suspension with immediate effect for his gross misconduct and indiscipline.
During the suspension period, the IIC will remain under the disciplinary control of IG of Police, North-Central Range (NCR), Talcher, said a release issued by the Odisha Police State Headquarters, Cuttack, as per an official communiqué released by Odisha Police Headquarters.
The action against Lenka was taken after he allegedly refused to register a case of a woman who visited the police station.
Later, the woman took help of the ‘Mo Sarkar’ programme to lodge her grievance. Prompt action was taken following the complaint by the woman, according to reports.
In another development, Angul Police Station SI Arakhita Sethy has been suspended by the district SP for negligence in duty in collecting information about an accused.
The Mo Sarkar programme, which Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had launched on October 2 last year, aims at making governance more people-centric encouraging common citizens to share their feedback on the kind of response they get during visits to governance offices and police stations.
