Mo Sarkar: Odisha Govt to Hold First Round of Promotion Adalat from Tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government is all set to hold the first round of ‘Promotion Adalat’ from tomorrow to address the issues related to promotion of government employees.

The Promotion Adalat will be held on January 28, 29 and 31 at six places in Bhubaneswar.

As many as 2273 applicants have been shortlisted for the first round of hearing on the aforementioned days, according to sources.

The list of shortlisted employees has been uploaded on state government website – https://www.gaodisha.gov.in/node/2087.

Besides, the applicants have been informed details of the promotion adalats through their personal email along with issuance of permit card. They have to carry the permit card with them to attend the promotion adalats.

The employees would need to present themselves during the promotion adalat with the issued permit card and could not be represented by anyone else or the service association, the General Administration Department said.

The second round of the Promotion Adalat will be held on February 27, 28 and 29.

Earlier, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had directed ACSs of various departments to hold Promotion Adalats in last week of January to resolve cases that are eligible & due but not done. In case someone is eligible and due and not promoted, then responsibility will be fixed on the higher authority for lapses.

By this two stage process , the Government has streamlined and fixed time frame and responsibility in promotion process of Government employees. This brings transparency, timeliness, leading to transformation in the entire promotion process.

Corruption, whims and fancies of senior officials will be a thing of past with this initiative Its expected that this transparent time bound promotions will incentivize hardwork and inspire government employees to put their best, leading to better public service delivery which is the hall mark of 5T in Governance.
