New Delhi: Former Pakistan international cricketer Mohammad Wasim has been appointed as the chief selector of the men’s national team, taking over the role from Misbah-ul-Haq.
Wasim has been handed the duties until the next ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2023 and his first assignment will involve selection for the upcoming two Tests and three-match T20I series against South Africa, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said.
Wasim represented Pakistan in 18 Tests and 25 ODIs between 1996 and 2000.
Pakistan have also named Saleem Yousuf, the former wicket-keeper, as the head of the PCB Cricket Committee, another role which was earlier held by Misbah.
