Morbi Tragedy Impact: Authorities Restrict Crowd Movement Over Dhabaleswar Suspension Bridge In Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: In view of the Gujarat Bridge tragedy in which more than 130 people died yesterday evening, the Cuttack District administration has today imposed restrictions on the movement of people over the Dhabaleswar Suspension Bridge at the famous Dhabeleswar temple. While the carrying capacity of the bridge is 600, the administration today imposed restrictions and not more than 200 persons can travel through the bridge at one time. Also, the administration has taken the decision to close the bridge for public movement tomorrow, as detailed inspection about the safety of the Bridge will be carried out by experts.

Speaking to media, Sub-Collector Hemanta Kumar Swain conformed about the restrictions and requested people not travel over the bridge unnecessarily and only devotees observing Kartika Brata should take the Bridge route. The concrete bridge near the present suspension bridge is nearing completion.
